About Unitea.

Unitea was founded by Anita Amurun (she/her/hers), an Inclusion and Organisational Wellbeing Consultant with over a decade of experience across FTSE 100 and 250 organisations, the charity sector, higher education, and the public sector both in the UK and internationally.

That experience spans retail, energy, social care, higher education, community organisations, and professional services. Having worked across various sectors, Anita operates from an understanding that structural inequity manifests differently depending on the context, but is driven by consistent underlying conditions that are often prevalent across a host of organisations - from the FTSE100s to charities.

Anita holds a Master of Arts (Hons) in Sociology from the University of Glasgow, where she studied social structures, the patterns of social behaviours and the causes and consequences of social inequities - forming the intellectual foundation for the the crux of Unitea’s work. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological and Educational Studies from the University of Manchester, which directly informs the practice’s use of psychosocial research and psychometric instruments. Unitea examines both the structural conditions that produce inequity and their measurable effect on health and wellbeing, and that dual focus is rooted in these two disciplines working together.

Unitea was built on the understanding that workplace discrimination is a public health issue - one that produces documented and measurable effects on the bodies and minds of the people experiencing it. The consultancy is race-centred and intersectional, grounded in evidence, and exists because the gap between what organisations measure and what they understand about the lives of their marginalised employees is where the most important work remains to be done.

This is why Unitea does things differently - starting with a conversation (and a cup of tea - preferably herbal and something with berries!).
